Fusing is an ancient technique that some say has been in practice for thousands of years - far longer than glass blowpipes.  It is a process in which glass is heated in a kiln  at temperatures ranging from 1000F. - 1500F (593 - 816C.). Fusing has recently regained much popularity  for both hobbyists and fine artists especially in the United States.
