I am a retired teacher who delights in creating useful and beautiful fused glass objects in my small Freeport, Maine studio. Always dabbling in various artistic media, I came to learning about fused glass late in life and I immediately recognized its potential for artistic expression. Since 2009 I have been designing unique, one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry and more recently have begun exploring various techniques in creating dishware, decorative and useful household items as well as seasonal and decorative pieces for the home.
Glass is a lovely medium that appeals to visual and tactile senses. Although knowledge and technique are rewarded with interesting results there is always the element of surprise when the kiln is opened and the final product is revealed, Unexpected results often exceed expectation. For me, working with glass is an on-going learning process and represents a subtle balance between creator, material and kiln.
